Pops Fishing Lake
Welcome to Pop's Fishing Lake for carp. The history of Pop's Lake goes all the way back to Boyd Gantt's Father, whom everyone called "Pop." Pop's Lake has always been known around Statesville to have the best carp fishing around. Now it's known for the best big carp fishing around. You can drive your vehicles all the way around both lakes so that it's easy for you to unpack rods, reels, etc.
Boyd Gantt and his wife, Joyce, ran Pop's Carp Lake for a long time and then decided to lease it to Keith and Gary Caudle. Keith and Gary have done a great job putting big carp in the lakes in the last couple of years and now as of recently have big 40 pounders for you to enjoy catching.
If you sit on the porch for long you'll hear the old timers talk about fishing Pop's Fishing Lake in the upper lake when you could just pitch your line out to the island and catch a fish anytime. Or, maybe fishing Pop's Lake in the lower pond before it got stretched and dug out and pitch it off there to catch a fish.
There's plenty of stories that you can sit and listen to or you can come on down to Pop's Fishing Lake and see what you can do about making some memories of your own. Come on out and bring the kids to Pop's Fishing Lake you won't be disappointed!
Pop's Lake welcomes scooters just 'cause it's hard to carry them big ole 40 pound fish on your back or in your net. So bring your scooter and come on down!
